Man v. Food Season 3 Episode 4: Richmond
Adam arrives in Richmond, Virginia to partake in the Stupid Wings Challenge at Caliente restaurant, a plate of red hot coated chicken wings that has defeated 90% of its challengers. The prize for eating eight jumbo fiery chicken wings is a free meal and a t-shirt that says “I’m With Stupid”, with an arrow pointed upward, no doubt in reference to anyone who would take on this gut wrenching challenge.
First Adam visits Buz and Ned’s BBQ restaurant, where they are known for their pulled pork, brisket and ribs. Adam is there to try their famous hickory-smoked spare ribs, and goes back to the kitchen to watch the owner prepare the ribs. The ribs are given a wet spice marinade that soaks into the ribs. The ribs are put into a smoker out back using hickory and white oak wood. Once the ribs are smoked thoroughly the ribs are placed on the grill in the kitchen and coated numerous times with their signature sweet and sour BBQ sauce, a combination of Memphis and Carolina style BBQ sauces. The ribs cook as the BBQ sauce caramelizes on the ribs, finally ready for Adam to taste. Adam takes a bite of the tasty ribs and tells the viewers “It’s almost like eating two ribs” between the sweetness of the BBQ sauce and the deep smoke flavor.
