30 Rock Season 4 Episode 16: Floyd
Liz decides she needs more positive energy to help in her dating life. Liz receives a call from her ex-boyfriend Floyd, who is in town and wants to meet with her. After she arranges for them to have dinner the next night, Liz is excited about seeing Floyd again.
Frank, Toofer, and Lutz are tired of Danny, the popular new cast member. Frank, Toofer, and Lutz decide to play a prank on Danny, who falls for it. Danny complains to Jack, who knows just what to do to get back at the writers. Jack and Danny set up an elaborate ruse to get Danny’s revenge against them.
Liz turns on the TV and finds out that Floyd is in New York competing for a dream wedding on “The Today Show” with his fiancée Caitlin. Liz can hear Floyd talking during the Today Show taping right below her office. Apparently Floyd is engaged and planning on getting married right out in front of 30 Rock where Liz can hear and see the ceremony. Liz is crushed by the news and wishes she could get out of dinner tomorrow night. Jack suggests Liz seek revenge by encouraging Floyd to order fish at the restaurant they are going to, since Liz has gotten sick on fish twice there already.
Danny runs into the writers room warning them of a toxic gas that is filling the building, and the only way to survive is to take your clothes off before the gas fills the room. As Frank, Toofer, and Lutz take off their clothes Jack brings the TGS dancers into the room to take photos of the writers while gloating over his and Danny’s prank. The writers vow to get back at Jack at any cost.
Liz meets Floyd at the restaurant and tells him she knows about his upcoming wedding. Floyd apologizes for not letting her know sooner, then asks her if she’s seeing anyone and she quickly changes the subject. Liz finds out Floyd, who moved to Cleveland, Ohio for his career and ended their relationship, is willing to move back to New York for his fiancée Caitlin’s career. Liz is irritated by Floyd’s cavalier attitude, and, wanting revenge, suggests he try the fish. Floyd obliges by ordering three plates of salmon.
Pete kept Tracy and Jenna out of his way by having masks made of their faces while Kenneth told them stories about his childhood for 12 hours. Now Tracy and Jenna are having sex dreams about Kenneth and are horrified. They decide the only way to stop the horrible dreams are for them to “Elm Street” Kenneth by killing him in their dreams.
Floyd is acting loopy after eating so much fish. Liz discovers Floyd’s fish is glazed with Jack Daniels whiskey and he’s drunk from the glaze. Floyd starts dancing in the restaurant and making a scene. Liz feels terrible since Floyd is a recovering alcoholic and tries to get him back to his hotel room, but Floyd in his toasted state accuses Liz of plotting to ruin his wedding. Hurt, Liz leaves Floyd in the restaurant to fend for himself.
Frank, Toofer, and Lutz find out Jack is a member of a secret college society. Whenever anyone uses the phrase “Twig and Plums”, the secret member must excuse themselves from the room. Frank barges into a meeting Jack is having and utters the phrase “Twig and Plums”, and Jack excuses himself from the meeting. After another “Twig and Plums” episode, Jack has had enough and plots with Danny to end the pranking by the writers. Jack films himself on Frank’s mother’s bed while visiting her, threatening Frank that he will sleep with his mother if the pranking doesn’t stop, and that includes Toofer, and Lutz’s mothers as well. The writers know they are defeated and back down.
The next morning Jack shows Liz a tape of “The Today Show”, as a very drunk Floyd pesters the hosts. Liz decides to apologize to Floyd and his fiancée Caitlin, bringing them free “TGS” mouse pads and a “Dateline” wallet. Floyd wonders why his back hurts and Liz sees an elaborate tattoo across his back from his escapades the previous night. Caitlin accepts Liz’ apology then talks her into being part of the wedding party, which Liz is not happy about. After Tracy and Jenna attack Kenneth with a picture frame, Pete tells them they aren’t dreaming. Tracy and Jenna realize they are awake and didn’t dream of Kenneth last night, which means they are cured. That night Pete dreams that Kenneth is dancing in front of him in a speedo while Liz dances along, and wakes up terrified.
