30 Rock Season 6 Episode 1 Recap: Dance Like Nobody’s Watching
In 30 Rock’s Season 6 episode Liz is walking, no practically dancing her way to 30 Rock and meets up with Jack. He can’t get over how cheery Liz is acting, not herself at all. Jack goes on about how predictable Lemon’s Christmas holiday must have been. Liz keeps smiling and Jack admits he is confused by her uncharacteristic perkiness.
At TGS Liz runs into Kenneth who tells Liz and Pete he is prepared for the Rapture that is happening the next day. Kenneth is ready to give away his earthly goods and shows Pete his bucket list to complete. Pete looks at the bucket list and derides Kenneth on his need to finish odd-jobs at TGS instead of doing something he’s never done, like going to the ocean.
Liz meets up with Tracy in the hallway. Tracy is ready to ruin TGS because he is very jealous of Jenna, who has a prime judge job on the new hit America’s Kidz Got Singing! Tracy threatens Liz who tells him to go ahead with his plans, she’s staying out of the drama. Tracy doesn’t know how to take this happy-go-lucky version of Liz.
Jenna’s newest gig is playing the ruthless judge, along with kind judges John McEnroe and D’Fwan, on the hit reality series America’s Kidz Got Singing! Jenna trash talks to the children who sing before the judges. Jenna is raking in a big salary and high ratings for Kabletown, much to the chagrin of Jack, who doesn’t like the idea of Jenna being mean to little kids now that he’s bonded with his baby daughter Liddy. Jack asks Jenna to try being nice to the kids after they sing but the audience wants her to be mean. Jack has a heart to heart chat with Liddy. She says her first word Mommy but Jack hears the word money and realizes Liddy is supporting him in his quest to make money through America’s Kidz Got Singing! for Kabletown.
Pete finds Kenneth in front of a store looking forlorn after realizing the Rapture did not happen. Pete gathers up Kenneth and tells Frank, Lutz and Toofer, who are dressed as Santa, The Devil and Jesus to poke fun at Kenneth, and tells them to come with him. Pete, Kenneth, Frank and Toofer end up on the beach at night where Kenneth is amazed at how wonderful the ocean really is.
Tracy decides something is up with Liz and follows her to the seedy side of town then watches her hang with a sketchy looking guy. Tracy is worried that Liz is becoming a drug addict and tells Jack, who realizes Liz is actually hanging out near Madison Square Garden. Jack and Tracy follow Liz that night to find she is performing with the New York Liberty WNBA Dance Team.
Jack gives Liz a ride in his limo after the dance show. Jack has a knowing smile on his face as he predicts Liz has waited weeks to see the romantic movie New Years Eve so she doesn’t feel bad for watching it alone. Liz keeps smiling and bounces out of the limo to the movie theater. Jack watches Liz walk up the stairs. A stunned Jack sees Liz kiss a mysterious man then watches as they walk into the theater together.
