First stop for Adam is Bob & Timmy’s Grilled Pizza, where the specialty is pizza on the grill. These pizzas have with all sorts of delicious toppings, the variety of pizzas available is endless. Adam finds out the locals who eat at Bob & Timmy’s love the texture and flavor of the grilled pizza dough. Adam wants to try their famed margherita pizza. Adam watches as the owner cooks up the pizza dough on the grill, acheiving toasty grill marks on the crusty dough. The owner loads up the traditional margherita pizza toppings of red sauce, mozzerella, and basil, the colors of Italy. Adam is amazed that the toppings go right on the pizza dough on the grill. Once the cheese is melted the pizza comes off the grill and Adam takes a taste, smiling and marveling at the freshness of the ingredients and the crispiness of the pizza dough.
Next Adam hits the popular Haven Brothers Diner, where the burgers are king. Haven Brothers Diner is known for their burgers and Adam has heard of one of the most beloved burgers there, the Triple Murder Burger. Adam can’t wait to see the owner concoct this rich, juicy burger and heads to the kitchen. The owner starts off grilling 3 beef patties, topped with slices of cheddar cheese. Bacon is cooked on the grill and added to the top of the burgers. Mushrooms and onions are on the flat top and grilled to perfection, and an egg is fried to top the triple layer burger. The mushrooms and onions are added to the top of the meat/cheese/bacon pile, along with tomato, lettuce, mayo, mustard, ketchup, and relish, topped with the runny fried egg. Adam opens wide to take a bite of this juicy burger and is impressed with how luscious it tastes! Adam jokingly berates one of his best friends who lived in Providence for a few months but never told Adam about Haven Brothers Diner and it’s Triple Murder Burger.
The montage shows Adam hoofing it on the rugby field with Conner and the rugby team. Adam ends up at the bottom of a pile of rugby players as he tries to breathe enough to continue giving Conner advice on the Hot Weiner Challenge.
Adam meets Conner at Olneyville NY System restaurant for the Hot Weiner Challenge. If Conner can eat 15 fully loaded weiners he will be only the second challenger to win the challenge. The rugby team has warned Conner if he loses his punishment will be a unicorn tattoo on his arm. Conner doesn’t appear to be concerned.
Adam heads into the kitchen to see the challenge platter put together. The owner cooks up 15 beef weiners on the grill. Once the weiners are ready, the owner adds them to the buns, then covers the dogs in their specialty homemade meat chili, then loads them with mustard and onions to top them off. Adam tries one of the savory hot dogs and says it’s delicious but rich from the chili.
Conner starts his challenge as Adam and the crowd cheer him on. Conner easily takes down a number of hot dogs with nary a blink of an eye. Conner keeps shoveling down dogs until he hits the hot dog wall. This big appetite guy admits the richness of the chili and beef weiners is too much for his system to handle. Conner follows Adam’s advice and switches in condiments to help make the dogs go down smoother. Conner tries to continue devouring the chili covered dogs but the richness of the chili is too much for him. As the 45 minutes winds down the crowd counts down as Conner manages to finish all but 2.5 hot dogs.
Conner is disappointed but Adam sees Conner’s success in eating so many dogs. Adam tells the crowd in the battle between man and food, today, food won. Adam is impressed with Conner finishing off 12.5 hot dogs and presents Conner with an official Man V. Food Nation title belt for his effort, which Conner gladly accepts.
