Man v. Food Nation Season 4 Episode 17: Street Eats FL NY LA
Adam is headed to Tampa, Florida, New York and Los Angeles to enjoy street eats from the best food trucks in the country. Adam is set to coach entertainer and jack-of-all-trades Sydney Big Dawg Colston to take down the White Rabbit Burrito Challenge at L.A.’s White Rabbit food truck. Only two people have defeated the challenge out of a few hundred. The White Rabbit Burrito Challenge consists of a 6-pound Filipino burrito filled with meat, rice, eggs and cheese. Colston must finish the monster burrito in 45 minutes to complete the challenge.
The first food truck Adam encounters is at The Taco Bus in Tampa, Florida. The taco truck specializes in tacos, including their famed puerco asado tacos. Adam watches as the truck chef creates the Rajas Con Queso Taco. The chef adds marinated roast pork to warmed tortillas, topped with roasted poblano strips with queso fresco, corn kernels, jalapenos, cabbage, marinated red onions and pico de gallo. Adam can barely contain his hunger as he bites into the tortilla and melts as he savors the tasty concoction.
Adam’s second food truck visit is to New York’s Wafels and Dinges, known, of course, for their delicious wafels. Adam decides to try their popular BBQ Pulled Pork Waffle. The truck chef cooks up a crispy Belgian waffle then adds a pile of savory BBQ pulled pork, then tops the pork with coleslaw, barbecue sauce, and a “coolickle” (a pickle soaked in Kool-Aid). Adam digs into the southern style waffle and loves the combination with the crispy waffle.
It’s time for Adam to visit the White Rabbit food truck in Los Angeles to see Big Dawg face the White Rabbit Burrito Challenge. Adam watches as the truck chef puts together the massive 6 pound Filipino burrito. The chef takes 6 warmed tortillas and fills them with marinated chicken adobo, six fried eggs, garlic fried rice, and 12 slices of Swiss cheese. Adam can see this is one tough burrito challenge Big Dawg is up against.
Big Dawg starts the challenge strong with Adam and the crowd cheering him on. Big Dawg is taking big bites of the burrito, downing 2 pounds in short order. Big Dawg is drinking Sprite to help the food go down and Adam is concerned the soda will swell the rice in his stomach. Big Dawg begins to slow down 30 minutes into the challenge so Adam shows him how to do the “shake-down shimmy”, which helps the food go down easier. Big Dawg went back to eating the mountain of burrito, trying as hard as he could to get as much down before the 45 minutes was up. As the 45 minutes deadline hit Big Dawg had finished off 3 of the 6 pounds of White Rabbit burrito.
Adam announces that today, in the battle between man and food, food won. Adam presents Big Dawg with the official Man v. Food Nation title belt to cheer him after his loss against food.
