Man v. Food Nation Season 4 Episode 25 Recap: Oahu Hawaii
In Man v. Food’s 4th season finale Adam visits the island of Oahu in Hawaii to help coach fifth-grade teacher Lauren Takao face the Moose McGillycuddy’s Moose Omelet Challenge. Lauren is set to take on the 5 pound Moose Omelet Challenge which must be finished in under one hour and has crushed 95% of its challengers.
First Adam heads to Haute Dog in Honolulu where they are famous for what else? Hot dogs. Adam is interested in their Italian beef sandwich, the Big Hawaiian. Adam watches as the chef puts together this beefy sandwich. The Big Hawaiian starts with a bun and a foot-long hot dog, topped with slow-roasted Kalua pork, then slathered in pickled onions, poi, barbecue sauce, and pineapple relish. Adam chomps into the Big Hawaiian and smiles over the porky combinations with tasty condiments.
The next stop for Adam is Kahuku to visit their local shrimp trucks. Adam visits Giovanni’s Aloha Shrimp Truck to try their hot and spicy shrimp and their shrimp scampi. The shrimp scampi is made with the freshest of shrimp and the hot and spicy shrimp uses a spicy piri piri pepper sauce. Adam is wowed by the freshness of the shrimp, the spicy shrimp, and the delicious pasta dish.
Adam arrives at Moose McGillycuddy’s in Waikiki to meet up wtih fifth-grade teacher Lauren Takao as she readies herself for the massive Moose Omelet Challenge. Adam heads to the kitchen to get the low-down on this mega-meal. The chef prepares a 12-egg omelet filling it with breakfast sausage, ham, Portuguese sausage, and bacon. The chef sautes a pile of potatoes, onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms then tops the meat with the veggies and the omelet is ready to be eaten. Adam foresees trouble downing this mountain of breakfast.
Lauren gets ready for the challenge with her husband, daughter, and fifth-grade students nearby as Adam and the crowd cheer her on. Lauren must finish the 5 pound omelet challenge in less than an hour to win. Lauren begins strong with big bites of the omelet and keeping a steady pace. Part way through the challenge Lauren begins to struggle with the food so Adam convinces her to get up and move around the table to help settle things in her stomach. At Adam’s suggestion Lauren uses a cup of coffee to help the omelet go down easier. Lauren finds her second wind and completes half of the omelet at 32 minutes into the challenge. As the crowd urges her on Lauren has devoured 3 pounds of the 5 pound omelet with only 15 minutes to spare. Lauren fights to the end with less than 2 pounds of omelet left to the challenge. Adam congratulates Lauren for laying waste to over half the omelet. Adam announces that today, in the battle between man and food, food won. Adam then presented Lauren with an official Man v. Food Nation title belt.
