The Office Season 6 Episode 21: Happy Hour
Michael is showing off his push-ups in the office and the office staff is not impressed. Michael dares the rest of the office to do twenty five push-ups. When no one seems interested Michael ups the ante so anyone who does twenty five push-ups gets to go home early. Stanley gets down on the floor and does twenty five push-ups, much to the chagrin of Michael.
Oscar wants to talk with Matt, his office crush, but can’t seem to find time to talk with him since the Christmas party. Oscar asks Darryl about having a Happy Hour meet up for the office as an excuse to be around Matt, Darryl tells Oscar its ok to like Matt. The Happy Hour plan for after work is in place and Jim tries to beg off by using the baby as an excuse. When Michael insists Jim call Pam, she screams with excitement through the phone about getting out of the house, foiling Jim’s plan. Pam decides to invite her friend Julie to pair up with Michael since Julie laughs at everyone’s jokes. As Jim, Pam, Michael and Julie play pool, Michael and Julie seem to be hitting it off. Oscar feels disappointed as he keeps waiting for Matt to show up. Darryl tells Oscar Matt is kind of dumb and not a great catch.
Dwight is sitting with Angela at Happy Hour when Pam’s cousin Isabel arrives. Having hooked up with Isabel at Jim and Pam’s wedding, Dwight leaves Angela to go talk to Isabel, leaving Angela steaming. Angela follows Dwight and Isabel around as they play whack-a-mole and the other fun games at the bar. Angela takes a moment to remind Dwight of their baby contract. After sizing up the pros and cons of Angela vs Isabel, Dwight happily releases Angela from their baby contract.
Matt finally shows up at the bar and Oscar is happy to see him there. Matt and Oscar spend time shooting hoops and having a good time together. Angela confronts Dwight and Isabel, mentioning her baby contract with Dwight. As Dwight gets ready to explain what’s happening to Isabel, she whacks Angela’s head like whack-a-mole, embarrassing Angela who yells at Dwight and runs off. Dwight is so impressed with Isabel’s whack he leans over and kisses her. Andy and Erin have had two dates and are trying to keep their relationship under wraps. Andy seems concerned about keeping it secret while Erin doesn’t mind so much. Andy decides he doesn’t want any drama surrounding his dating Erin. When Michael realizes he is on a “date” with Pam’s friend Julie, he switches into his suave dating mode, changing into his stylish beret, putting on his slick ladies man talk and announcing this is “Date Mike”. Pam and Jim can see Michael has started to act stupid and try to head him off before he ruins his date with Julie.
Andy suggests to Erin that they go talk up other people to give the office staff the impression they aren’t dating. Andy talks to a woman at the bar while Erin starts chatting with a guy. When Andy sees Erin getting huggy with the guy he flips out and pulls her into the photo booth. After seeing their unhappy photos from the photo booth, Andy decides this isn’t him, he doesn’t want to have a relationship that is under wraps. Andy goes to the nearest microphone and announces to everyone that he and Erin have had two dates and plan to continue dating. Erin is thrilled that Andy has announced his love for her.
Michael starts acting macho, then jumps up on top of the pool table and dances. The manager of the place asks him to step down off the pool table. When Michael argues with her, she calls over the bouncer and Michael steps off the pool table. Embarrassed, Michael decides to confront the manager again, to the dismay of Jim, Pam and Julie. Michael strides over to the manager and Julie decides she’s heading out, ending the date. Michael asks for an apology from Donna the manager and they trade barbs until they realize they are having fun talking to each other. Donna offers Michael a free meal at the bar as long as it is when she is working. Michael realizes “Date Mike” is a success, he is set up for a date with Donna.
