The Office Season 6 Episode 26: Whistleblower
Jo arrives from the corporate office of Sabre to find out who the whistleblower is who told local papers about the problems with Sabre printers catching fire. Andy looks uncomfortable as Jo tells the office staff the whistleblower will be punished. Jo calls in the IT guy to search the employees’ hard drives for evidence of whistleblowing. Angela, Phyllis and Oscar tell Michael he needs to turn Andy in, but Michael can’t believe Andy would do such a thing and refuses to rat on him to Jo.
Jo meets with Michael who agrees with Jo that the whistleblower deserves severe punishment and should be fired. Jo meets with each of the office employees individually and questions them about the whistleblowing incident. Dwight meets with Jo and assures her he is not the whistleblower. When Dwight tells Jo he is investing his hard earned money, Jo advises him to invest in property. Dwight takes Jo’s advice and talks to his investor about properties to buy.
Darryl asks Michael to meet him in Meridith’s van. Darryl confesses he may have told someone about the Sabre printers. Pam joins them and tells Michael she told someone at Cecelia’s daycare. Kelly hops into the van and explains she leaked the story because she is all about talking and communicating with others. Michael tries to come up with a solution to keep them safe from being fired by Jo. Michael meets again with Jo to convince her to take it easy on the person who contacted the press and that their punishment should be that they continue to work hard at the office in Scranton. Jo thinks Michael knows who the guilty party is and drives Michael off to her private jet to meet with her.
Jo and Michael sit in Sabre’s corporate jet. Jo pours them both a hard drink and they start talking about life. Jo and Michael begin to bond and chat. Michael tells Jo how difficult this past year has been for him, how things have not been going his way, and that he really misses Holly. Jo starts telling Michael how embarrassing the whole printers on fire episode is in her career and that she can’t face the press to tell them a recall of the printers is in order. They both sympathize with each other and laugh about their misfortunes.
Nick the IT guy gets ready to leave his IT position and chides the office staff for not even knowing his name. Nick reveals Andy is the whistleblower and that he found emails and the video Andy made on his hard drive. Andy looks sheepish as most of the office staff harass him for getting them all in trouble with corporate. When Erin tells Andy she admires him and thinks he was very brave to talk to the press, Andy beams with happiness.
Dwight notices the building where Dunder Mifflin is located is for sale and calls his investor to buy the building. Dwight thinks of all the power he will wield when he owns the property where the company works from and smiles. Michael tells Jo he’d be happy to face the press for her about the recall to spare her feelings. Jo is so grateful she offers to do a favor in return for Michael. Michael wishes Holly could be transferred back to the Scranton office. Jo tells Michael she’ll see what she can do about Holly, and Michael’s heart skips a beat.
